About Us

Engaging more disabled people of all ages in sport and active recreation

Our aims

Together with our key partners, we aim to…

Increase sustained opportunities for disabled people who wish to take part in sport and physical activity
Create a seamless pathway from grassroots participation through to elite level competition
Develop a sustainable workforce for disability sport

How are we organised

Within Reach is an independent, registered charity, run by a volunteer management committee of seven.

Our Management Committee includes people with experience of and commitment to opportunities for disabled people.

We have two paid workers, a Disability Development Officer and Disability Sports Coach, and we rely on a large and dedicated team of volunteers.

Our Partners

We value our close partnership with Sheffield City Council’s Activity Sheffield, South Yorkshire Sport, Disability Sport Yorkshire and Irwin Mitchell.

Our History

Our organisation was established as ‘Our Year Too’ back in 1989, in advance of the World Student Games. To find out more about our history, download Within Reach – a 21st Birthday.
